Liana Pendant

December 13, 2010

The Liana pendant – one of our most popular pieces of jewellery is inspired by the Liana vines from the Amazonian Rainforest. The way the vines creep around trees, almost with an awakened conciousness of themselves inspired the forms in this stunning piece.

We love the way that the precious metal creeps around the stone as if it is clinging to it, trying to take over and engulf it. The main part of the design was cut away to reveal the clarity and beauty of the stone below it. The pattern created by these holes was inspired by the shapes and patterns on a butterfly wing.

Sapphires and diamonds scatter themselves amongst the butterfly patterns and creeping white gold lianas so that the end result is something almost science fiction, yet stunningly beautiful.

The intention with this pendant, was to create a feeling of nature taking over, overwhelming the man-made elements and returning to it’s natural habitat.
